iHologram – iPhone App Illusion

Richard | August 26, 2008

Here’s an iPhone App that made the cut – the iHologram. It works with both the iPod touch and iPhone, offering animations that seem to leap off the display in the manner 3D holograms would. According to designer David O’Reilly, “The application works by assuming a constant viewing angle (35-45 degrees), typical for when the device is placed on a tabletop. The 3D scene’s perspective is warped using anamorphosis, the same technique used in Hans Holbein’s painting The Ambassadors. This application does the exact same but updates dynamically.” The project is still just conceptual, but the designer plans on releasing a real app as soon as he finds a capable programmer. Good luck!

iPhone 3G – [UPDATE] iPhone 2.0 Software Cracked Already

Richard | July 11, 2008

Today is the day. July 11, 2008. iPhone day. App store day. MobileMe day. Waiting in line day. As for this matter, we are reporting constantly about news, happenings, features, and so on and so forth… Stay tuned!

[update 12:00 GMT +1] The friendly guys at iPhone Dev Team took the cake and already cracked the iPhone 2.0 software version. The first one took a couple of months, but this one was actually unlocked before Apple released it to the public.

- Gizmodo

“Now that the official iPhone OS 2.0 is out, the iPhone Dev Team will release their Pwnage tool for everyone to unlock and jailbreak their iPhones soon, although the specific date/time is not firm yet. It may not be as interesting as before—since most countries now have the iPhone and it will be impossible to buy without doing a contract first—but people looking to install unsigned applications and buy pay-as-you-go cards while traveling—instead of roaming—will find it very useful.” – iPhone Dev Team Portal

[update 07:43 GMT +1] Now, that the time has come, we are waiting for the oh so usual unboxing ceremonies, such as:

Richard | July 10, 2008

Tomorrow, July 11, a new era begins. For some interesting Apple fans, at least. The new iPhone 3G is being released, and as always, everybody is watching. Watching, as well, are the blogs, media sites and mac forums, which are specifically reporting on the last couple of days before, and – of course – the days after the awaited release of their favorite gadget.

If you are one of those people, here is little appetizer by Walt Mossberg:

Believe it or not, there are people waiting one week (7 days !) in front of the stores to be the first in line when the calendar hits the iPhone 3G. Here are some examples: Boston, Tokyo and New York.
